The bankability gap is the structural mismatch between the cash-flow profile of a regenerative transition — lower yields and higher costs in years 1–3, with benefits accruing slowly thereafter — and the underwriting standards of conventional ag lenders. It is the single most important concept for understanding why scaled-up regenerative finance exists.
